The Elton John AIDS Foundation “raises funds for evidence-based programs and policies… to prevent infections, provide treatment and services, and motivate governments to end AIDS.” There are two foundations – one based in the United Kingdom that works in Europe, Asia, and Africa and the other based in New York that works in the United States, the Americas, and the Carribean. The New York and London foundations together have raised over $400 million over the past 28 years of the organization’s existence.
The Elton John AIDS Foundation website features news and updates about the organization’s events and efforts. On the About tab, users can learn more about the organization’s history, staff, financials, and find resources to learn more about HIV/AIDS. There is also a tab for Grantmaking where users can learn more about grants and how to apply for them. Finally, there are tabs to Donate to the organization and Contact them for media inquiries or to get involved.
The foundation is currently developing new guidelines for funding but grants have previously been focused on wellness, rights, quality of life, and resilience for people with HIV and those with risk factors for developing HIV/AIDS. On the site, users can find spotlight profiles about grantees and see all of the grants they have offered through the years.
